Drawing Lessons #9 Pencil sketch from reference photo – Kitten [2nd week]

Tried sketching a kitten from an old photo. I’m trying to do quick sketches for now to find my limitations. In this sketch I stopped once I discovered that I could not draw texture of the fur.

So far I feel I can somehow copy shapes of objects, but lack techniques to draw finer details. I’m thinking of drawing more variety of objects in the coming weeks and then slowly look at drawing guides.

    1. Thank you! And you should give it a shot. I really believe we all are capable of creating art. There are no rules except having fun doing it. 😀

      1. Thank you for the encouragement. Yes, in an ideal world I will do that, but I am so bad in art that I won’t even attempt to go that direction. LOL. However I can enjoy your drawings from now on and live my artistic dreams vicariously through your work.

  1. I like your kitten drawing. Drawing textures — like fun — can be challenging and fun. I know there are some good tutorials online. Matt Fussell has a free video at his site: The Virtual Instructor.
